BROOKLINE, Mass. – Northeastern baseball (13-12-1, 0-4 CAA) fell to William & Mary (12-11, 3-1 CAA) in the first game of the two teams' three-game weekend series at Friedman Diamond on Friday afternoon.

- The Tribe opened the game with a trio of two-out singles, the third of which scored the opening run to give William & Mary a 1-0 lead in the first.
- Northeastern answered back in the bottom of the frame – after a leadoff walk to Mike Sirota and a sacrifice bunt by Jeff Costello to advance him into scoring position, a two-out single up the middle by Corey DiLoreto sent the freshman home to tie the game.
- William & Mary got back on top in the third with a three-run home run to lead 4-1.
- The Tribe tacked on another two runs in the fourth on an RBI double to take a 6-1 lead.
- Northeastern would try and chip away at the lead in the bottom of the eighth – Jeff Costello notched a single through the left side, advanced to second on a ground out, and to third on a passed ball. Corey DiLoreto hit into a ground out to the short stop, but it allowed Costello to score from third to make the score 6-2.
- Northeastern's bullpen accounted for 5.0 innings of work between two pitchers – Nick Davis kept the Huskies in the game down by five, entering in the fifth inning and allowing just two hits, no runs, and no walks, while striking out two.
- Lefty Matt Devlin took the mound in the ninth and retired the side despite two walks. He got the second out by way of a strikeout.
- The Huskies were unable to overcome the four run deficit in the bottom of the ninth.
- Northeastern suffers its first loss of the season when scoring in the first inning (4-1). Â
