BOSTON – Northeastern men's rowing head coach
Alex Perkins has announced that
James Cartwright and
Will Dempsey have been named captains ahead of the 2023-24 season. Both will be stepping into the leadership positions for the first time in their Husky careers.
"We are excited to have
Will Dempsey and
James Cartwright serve as team captains for the 23-24 season, said Perkins. "Both of them have brought a tremendous amount to our program and we look forward to their continued leadership this season."
Cartwright and Dempsey both were integral pieces to the first varsity boat this past season, that finished sixth overall at the IRA Championships, and took down rival Harvard in the final meters in the semifinals. Cartwright competed in the six seat for the majority of the season, and Dempsey was coxswain. In addition to the strong finish at IRA's, the Huskies took down UPenn, BU, Brown, and Wisconsin in dual races.
