Shepherd Tabbed CAA Defensive Player Of The Week

RICHMOND, Va. – Graduate student middle blocker Nyla Shepherd of Northeastern volleyball was named CAA Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Shepherd tallied 17 blocks, averaging 2.43 per set, to help the Huskies begin CAA play 2-0 with victories over Stony Brook. In the weekend finale, the graduate student notched a career and match-high 15 blocks, limiting the Seawolves to a .130 team hitting percentage to propel the Huskies to a reverse sweep. The 15 blocks tied a program record for the most in a single match, and the most in a five-set match in the NCAA this fall.

Shepherd and the Huskies will host Hofstra this weekend, September 23-24. First serve is slated for 2 p.m. on both days, and will stream on FloVolleyball.
