David S. Caligaris was inducted into the Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in the sport of basketball.

Caligaris owns the unofficial title as the greatest pure shooter in the history of Northeastern basketball. He was a renowned scholar athlete as a two-time Academic All-America selection, graduating summa cum laude with a 3.84 GPA in Accounting. Caligaris departed Northeastern as the leader in career points, 1672, and games played, 101, which were all consecutive. In addition to the academic accolades, he was a District I All American on the court as a junior and senior, as well as being team Most Valuable Player. His scoring average of 24.6 points per game was tops in all of New England in his senior season of 1977-78. After being drafted in the fifth round of the National Basketball Association's 1978 draft by the Detroit Pistons, Caligaris played three seasons professionally after Northeastern, starring on the international hoop circuit in Greece from 1978 to 1981.
