Gerald R. Tatton who passed away in 1976, was elected to the Hall of Fame for over 40 years of dedication to the University and its track program.

Tatton, a graduate of the Class of 1928, captained both the indoor and outdoor track teams in the 1928 season. He was the holder of the school record in both the high and low hurdles and in the high jump. He was the New England high jump champion as a senior when he led the team in scoring. Also during his senior year he won the high jump and high hurdles at the Eastern Championship. He was an honors and Dean's List student and was elected president of his class as a senior. Upon graduation he became an assistant coach of track and an instructor in business administration at Northeastern. Tatton was named head coach of cross country and indoor and outdoor track in 1938. Over a 28-year span his cross country record was 116-78, indoor track 103-53 and outdoor track 61-88 for a total won-loss record of 280-219. He also served as an assistant coach of football for many years.

Tatton produced many fine seasons and many fine athletes. The outdoor track team of 1928, which he captained, was Northeastern's first undefeated track squad, and the last three outdoor teams that he coached, 1964, 1965 and 1966, compiled a record of 27 wins and one loss. Among the great track stars which he produced were Northeastern's first track All America's, Carl Wallin and Bill Corsetti.
