Eric W. Porter was inducted into the Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in the sport of ice hockey.

Porter lettered three times in hockey from 1965-68, as he left an indelible mark on the New England hockey scene as an explosive right-winger for coach Jim Bell. Renowned for his defensive prowess and two-way abilities, Porter enjoyed his finest moment in college hockey when he beat Boston College with the sixth and decisive overtime goal to propel the Huskies to the Beanpot finals in 1967. He captained the 1967-68 team as a senior, scoring a team high 18 goals. In just three seasons of varsity competition, Porter totaled 42 goals and 46 assists for 88 points. He ranked twelfth on the Husky all-time scoring list when he graduated. For Porter, the ideal distribution of talent and desire paid dividends in the 1967-68 season, when he earned All New England and team Most Valuable Player honors.

Although primarily a hockey star in his collegiate days, Porter arrived at Northeastern as a football, track and cross-country three-letter athlete from Iroquois Falls and Calvert District High School. Porter proceeded to distinguish himself in the classroom at Northeastern, where he earned Dean's List honors in each of his five years. He was also elected to numerous honor societies and upon graduation made rapid strides as a Certified Public Accountant.
