Paul J. McDougall was elected to the Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in the sport of ice hockey

McDougall centered the premier line of the University's greatest team ever in 1982, when the Huskies won 25 games and the ECAC Championship, and finished as the third best team in the country. He scored 25 goals in a masterful 52-point senior curtain call, spearheaded the penalty killing team and earned All-New England and All-East honors. At 5'9, 165 pounds, he served as the pinion of a Division I program that climbed from the league cellar to the school's first Beanpot Tournament Championship and ECAC Title. In his sophomore year, the Huskies participated in the mythical shot heard around the hockey world, otherwise known as the winning of the Beanpot Championship for the first time in University history. McDougall was an integral part of this, scoring two goals and handing out three assists on successive Monday nights. As a senior, McDougall moved himself to the sixth spot all-time on NU's scoring list and lead the way past UNH in the semifinals and Harvard in the championship on the way to the ECAC Championship, the University's first.
