John J. Clark was elected to the Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in the sport of basketball.

Clark graduated as the Huskies all time leading scorer with 1,617 points. The 6'2 guard also pulled down 468 rebounds and recorded a four year scoring average of 16.4 points per game. As a senior, Clark was the team's Most Valuable Player. Clark completed his varsity career as an All New England selection and a member of the District One All America team. Clark was responsible for virtually re-editing the Northeastern record book by the time he discarded his collegiate sneakers. In addition to most points in a career, he graduated with the benchmarks for most points in a season, 511, most field goals in a season, 201, most field goals in a career, 608, most free throws in a career, 401, and most assists in a career 543. He was also only the third player in New England basketball history to average over 20 points per game in a season, which he did in his senior season of 1974-75, averaging 20.4.

Statistics aside, Clark was generally regarded as the consummate college basketball player. Pro scouts took notice of his ability, in particular those bird-dogging for the Boston Celtics, who selected Clark in the sixth round of the 1976 National Basketball Association draft.

Clark found time to please not only his scouts, but also his professors. He was a Who's Who Among American Students in 1977 and won the distinguished Horner Wordolf Award for outstanding academic achievement. His coach Jim Calhoun refereed to Clark as "the complete student/athlete." Photography, tennis, reading and an acute appreciation of Jazz occupied Clark's "off" hours at Northeastern.

Clark buttressed his Accounting degree from Northeastern with a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Chicago in 1985.
