Frank Leahy (class of 1975) was a four-year coxswain for Northeastern men’s rowing between 1970 and 1974.

A Quincy, Massachusetts native, Leahy began his Husky career as coxswain of the men’s freshman eight in 1971, and was varsity coxswain in each of his last three seasons with the team. In his four years at Northeastern, he lost only one dual race, and helped lead the men’s varsity boat to two first-place finishes at the Eastern Sprints in 1972 and 1973.

Leahy played an instrumental role in the team’s success in England during the 1973 season, winning the gold medal at Nottingham and placing first among U.S. varsity crews at the Henley Royal Regatta. He and all members of the 1972 Northeastern varsity boat were awarded the Alumni Crew Trophy.

Beyond Northeastern, Leahy also won the Head of the Charles Regatta in 1972, and has been a coxswain in every Head of the Charles Regatta since 1996.
