Zara Northover (class of 2007) was a member of the Northeastern women’s track and field team between 2002 and 2007.
As a team captain during her senior year, Northover received Outstanding Meet Performer honors at the 2007 CAA Track and Field Championships, and proceeded to break her own Northeastern outdoor track shot put record with a throw of 55’0.75 at the 2007 ECAC Championships. Northover was a conference champion in the shot put in every year she competed, and was also a three-time New England champion.
During her time as a Husky, she broke various meet records in shot put, discus, and hammer, and posted top five distances in program history in all three events.
Northover competed professionally for Jamaica both during and after her track and field career at Northeastern, and was a 2008 Olympian in the women’s shot put in Beijing.
